The H.M.S. Beagle staff and advisors are now available, via e-mail, to answer questions from students about nearly any science subject. There is no charge for this service. Our staff and advisors will not answer questions directly; instead their answers will be forwarded to the students (this helps protect the student’s privacy and insures that the student’s e-mail addresses are not given out widely). We’re sure that we will have questions posed that we cannot immediately or readily answer, however, we will make every attempt to provide an answer as soon as possible (please allow at least 5 days for an answer to be generated, but we will make every attempt to answer questions within 48 hours). If we cannot provide an answer we will direct the questioner to published (books, magazines, journals) or to on-line resources where the question can be further researched.

To ask a science question just click here jfk@hms-beagle.com to send an e-mail. Please be as specific as possible, but keep in mind, we cannot and will not write school reports for students. Our answers will be as concise as possible, so please make your questions clear and concise. Our answers may be cited in research papers (the citation should be: “personal communication, H.M.S. Beagle “Ask the Scientists”, electronic (e-mail), [date], number of pages”). We are also willing to provide guidance to students regarding science fair projects and other school, scouting, 4-H, or other groups’ science projects or research.
