Rocket Science Day
October Skies
Saturday, October 4th, 2008
This is our third annual Rocket Science Day.
From 10:00 am until 2:00 pm there will be rocket launches, demonstrations (including the static burn of a large rocket engine!), contests, give aways and exhibits. We hope to have a personal appearance by Gene Novacek, our customer, who two years ago set the world's altitude recond (>33,000 meters) for an unmanned, parachute-recovered rocket. It is possible that by the time of October Skies Gene will have accomplished his goal of launcing a rocket into space and recovering it; if so, he will be returning some items (e.g. patches and a teeshirt from our first Rocket Science Day and a piece of a meteroite that hit earth in 1947) to us that we asked him to fly into space for us.
There is no entry fee. All events are FREE. Bring your own rocket(s) to be launched by the crew from KCAR (Kansas City Area Rocketry club). If you don't have a rocket ready to go there will be tents where you can build your own rocket (or repair, as needed, one that was launched earlier in the day). We will have rocket kits, supplies and engines for sale in the store (remember, Science Club members get discounts). Come, enjoy the fun, and launch your rockets!
